Rice is still a main source for Indonesian people to
fulfill the requirement of nutrition and energy for more
than 90% of population. Rice considers as one of the
strategic commodities which playing an important role in
economics and food resilience.
In year 2006, Centre of Statistics Indonesia had
anticipated that paddy production may reach about 52,8
million ton of dry grains or equivalent of rice production
around 31 million ton which indicated the rice surplus
estimated around 109.000 ton, but the government had
actually still imported of rice for 320.000 ton.
Average rice consumption of Indonesian is 141kg per capita
annually, So as to achieve the food independency in 2015
will hence require about 37,16 million ton of rice. In 2025,
Indonesia will also require about 41,487 million ton of
rice.
Thereby in 2015 and 2025, Indonesia will require more or
less 12,366 million ha and 12,832 million ha of land of
paddy farming respectively, meaning the country should
develop new rice field for 448.000 ha in 2015 and 914.000 ha
in 2025.
The aim of this project is to develop a new integrated
rice field in corporate scale with a sound and efficient
management. Independency in food resilience, creating
employment opportunity and increasing rural society earnings
are the primary concern of Minang
Jordanindo Group and at the same time a strong
commitment and motivation for the group to materialize and
complete this project as to alleviate the poverty. |
